Camber Ebert, Valedictorian of the Class of 2020 at Cambria-Friesland High School, is our 2020 William Wiersma Scholar. We welcomed Camber as our newest scholar during the virtual awards ceremony on May 30, 2020. Camber has excelled in the classroom with “straight A’s” throughout high school, including several Advanced Placement courses. In addition to being a student, Camber assumed the role of a teaching assistant for her AP calculus class when a substitute teacher was filling in for Mr. Steger. Her invaluable help was greatly appreciated by her teachers as well as her classmates. Camber has also enjoyed serving as a leader for the Welsh Prairie Livewires 4-H Club for several years, where she has developed skills in organizing and leading meeting with youth and their parents. This experience has given Camber many opportunities to embrace her skills and love of public speaking. Camber will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she intends to major in nursing with a goal of becoming a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Recently, Camber has pursued and completed her education, training and certification to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. We applaud these efforts and especially commend her on her devotion to her patients at the nursing home where she works, as we are all keenly aware of the challenges faced by patients and staff in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. We know that Camber will succeed in whatever career she chooses, and we are honored to be a part of her educational journey.
